(southern India)
There are many stories and references in the Tamil language, many, or perhaps even most of which are mentioned or referenced by David Shulman in his article “The Tamil Flood-Myth and the Caṅkam Legend”. However, for a variety of reasons, it proved difficult to find all the primary sources he cites, including the fact that not everything has been translated into western languages, the fact that Shulman refers to most works in transcription, and the fact that the Tamil script is a challenge to type without an introductory training, even with digital keyboards and online translation tools.
In many cases, therefor, I have opted for merely copying Shulman’s translation (or: summary) with the reference as he gives it. This is especially the case for 5.5 (g) onwards.
